In memoriam of our dear friend and committed farmer, Dave Lahey, the Lahey Memorial Scholarship was launched in 2017. A partnership between the Lahey Family and the Lunenburg Farmers’ Market, the goal of the Lahey Memorial Scholarship is to further agricultural studies and growth in Lunenburg and Queens Counties, Nova Scotia with an annual scholarship of $1000.00.
Students pursuing agricultural or agriculturally related studies can apply. They must be graduating from high school or currently enrolled in secondary education and returning in the fall. Preference will be given to those students graduating from a Lunenburg/Queens Co high school and currently residing in Lunenburg/Queens co, or planning to return to Lunenburg/Queens Co to pursue their agricultural field. Students should have a B+ average.
To apply students need to submit a one-page essay to the board of directors of the Lunenburg Farmers’ Market outlining their agricultural field of study and what their goals and plans are for after graduation.
The deadline for applying is July 31st annually
